The light blocked out everything but pain. My whole body seared with what felt like fire, but I somehow know what I wasn't burning, the tightening of skin, the blistering didn't happen, only white hot heat. It couldn't have lasted any longer than a few seconds, but those seconds felt like hours. By the time I realized the pain was finally gone, I couldn't move.
